Way-Cool Summer Camps

I could be wrong, but it seems like a safe bet that young’uns today aren’t going to be content with the same old summer camp activities we all enjoyed growing up.  I mean, can you imagine a kid raised with video games and 100-plus channels of 24/7 satellite television programming being content to spend the afternoon weaving a potholder for mom?  Me neither.

Luckily there are more cool summer camp options available than ever before, including several that are all but guaranteed to give your kids an extraordinary experience they won’t soon forget.  Here are three choice examples:

  •  Power Chord Academy  offers week-long programs designed to give aspiring teen rockers a chance to learn the ropes from music industry pros.  High points include the chance to collaborate on new songs, perform live on stage, cut their own studio CD and music videos, and more.  Surprise visits from members of hot new bands only add to the excitement.  Programs are held on college campuses in a dozen major cities across the U.S.
  •  Pali Adventures  may just have cornered the market on cool summer camp activities with more than a dozen over-the-top fantasy programs for 9 to 16 year-olds.  Kids can learn to be stuntmen, film directors, fashion designers, broadcast journalists, gourmet chefs, secret agents, and more.  Located 90 minutes east of Los Angeles.
  •  All Star Adventures  has put together multi-day skateboarding camps that allow teen participants to skate some of the best parks and street venues around.  Best of all (at least from a parent’s perspective) all the action takes place under the watchful eyes of instructors dedicated to keeping campers safe while they work up all those cool new tricks.  Locations include Oregon, Colorado, North Carolina, and Grand Cayman.
